Jurisdiction B DME MAC - Overpayment Recovery UnitThe primary responsibility of the AdminaStar Federal's Overpayment Recovery Unit (ORU) is to collect Medicare program money that has been paid in error to suppliers or beneficiaries. The department also issues replacement checks that have been damaged, paid to the wrong supplier or beneficiary or were voided because the original check was returned by the Post Office. Every year, Jurisdiction B will conduct postpayment audits on a random number of suppliers (or certain DMEPOS items billed) to verify that claims were paid correctly. During the audit, physician orders, billing statements, invoices and other documents in the supplier files are inspected.
