A CMS mandate (dated April 1, 2002) requires the use of an automated telephone system for the purpose of checking claim status.

The IVR links provide you with instructions for making telephone calls using our interactive voice response unit (IVR). The IVR is a system that enables you to obtain information electronically by pressing various numbers on your touch-tone telephone. All providers can obtain claim information, check beneficiary eligibility and order duplicate remittances by using the IVR.
